北京大學中國經濟中心主任，教授。臺灣政治大學企業管理研究所企業管理碩士，北京大學經濟學碩士學位。后入美國芝加哥大學經濟系，師從諾貝爾經濟學獎得主舒爾茨教授，獲博士學位。致力于發展經濟學，農業經濟學和中國經濟改革的研究并取得豐碩成果。著有《制度技術與中國農業的發展》、《中國的奇跡：發展的戰略與經濟改革》(合著)、《再論制度、技術與中國農業發展》等。曾獲美國明尼蘇達大學國際糧食與農業政策研究中心1993年度最佳政策論文獎，澳大利亞農業與資源經濟學會1997年約翰克勞夫爵士獎，孫冶方經濟 科學獎。其論文《中國的農村改革及農業增長》(Rural reforms and agricultural growth in China)被ISI(Institute for Scientific Information)評為“High Impact Paper”，獲得ISI頒發的經典引文獎“Citation Classic Award”。

　　Under the direction of Professor T·W·Schultz, he received Ph.D. in economics from the University of Chicago, U.S.A .He got his MBA and M.A. in political economics from National Chengchi University in Taiwan and Peking University respectivelyHis academic fields include agricultural economics, development economics, and economic reform in China. He was granted Policy Article Prize by Center for International Food and Agricultural Policy of University of Minnesota, U.S.A, in 1993 and Sir John Crawford Award 1997 by Australian Agricultural and Resource Economics Society. Rural reforms and agricultural growth in China, one of his papers, was honored as High Impact Paper by ISI and he was awarded Citation Classic Award. Dr Justin Yifu Lin’s publication contains Institution, Technology and Agricultural Development in China, The China Miracle: Development Strategy and Economic Reform (coauthor), and How Did China Feed Itself in the Past? How will China Feed Itself in the Future? He also serves on the editorial boards of over 10 academic journals.

　　Dr. Lin founded the China Centre for Economic Research (CCER) at Peking University with some other scholars in 1994. CCER gathers the most Chinese economic scholars with solid education background from abroad and it is well established in the world.
