定位與任務(wù)

　　現(xiàn)代化不僅是中華民族幾代人的追求和夢想，更是我國21世紀(jì)的奮斗目標(biāo)。它關(guān)系我們的子孫后代，需要大家的共同努力，我國科學(xué)界更是肩負(fù)不可替代的歷史責(zé)任。

　　2002年6月6日，中國科學(xué)院批準(zhǔn)成立中國現(xiàn)代化研究中心，她是中國科學(xué)院直屬的、

非法人的、非營利的、相對獨(dú)立的研究單元。她將堅(jiān)持科學(xué)性、創(chuàng)新性、戰(zhàn)略性和建設(shè)性的基本原則，科學(xué)地研究中國現(xiàn)代化的基礎(chǔ)理論和發(fā)展戰(zhàn)略，力爭用大約10年時(shí)間成為具有世界先進(jìn)水平的現(xiàn)代化研究中心，形成世界現(xiàn)代化理論研究的“中國團(tuán)隊(duì)”。

　　VISION AND MISSION OF CCMR

　　Generally, modernization is a process by which a nation/region evolves to a higher level of development through social, economic, and political changes. For developing countries, modernization also means catching-up with advanced countries.

　　Modernization is a national goal of China in the 21st Century. China Center for Modernization Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CCMR, CAS), founded in June 2002, is a non-profit research unit to serve the national goal with a focus on multidisciplinary studies and professional training.

　　VISION

　　A highly qualified research center for the studies of theories and strategies of China’s modernization;

　　An innovative team in the national scientific think tank of CAS; and

　　A high-level education unit for advanced professionals in the area of modernization research.

　　MISSION

　　Our mission is to deepen the understanding of the theories of China’s modernization and to form the“Chinese Team”of modernization studies for the benefit of science, government, business, and society. Our objectives are:

　　To advance the understanding of modernization through pioneering multidisciplinary research;

　　To provide evaluations for the worldwide modernization process;

　　To advise on the strategies of modernization; and

　　To deliver postgraduate training which provides the analytical and practical skills needed to the challenges of modernization in the future.
